Hi! After some work done on the latest Jumanji: The Next Level.
I wanted to explore different approaches and techniques for the dunes and environment.
Looking to gain more experience with other software I decided to work with Houdini and unreal 4.24
My initial plan was to export instance objects from Houdini to Unreal. and control the scenes with USD.
(Mainly to keep more control coming from Houdini, and or have a way to switch back to a classic renderer if needed)
It works well, but I needed to lower my expectations on the amount of instances unreal can handle! :)
I'm really happy about what I learned during those few days. Giving me more understanding and limitation of Unreal.
The realtime feedback in the viewport for lighting is for sure really pleasant and I can't wait to do more with it.
I hope you like it!
